Sample review · Race weekend debrief

What a review
looks like.

The written debrief from a Pro-Am client's race weekend: Sebring, International GT, Porsche 718 Cayman. Names removed, nothing else softened. It came with a voice-over narration of the laps and a data review; this is the part that can be shown on a page.

What every review includes

Voice-over lap narration

A recording of your full onboard with the coach talking through every corner: what he sees, what it's costing, what to change.

Data review

Where data is sent, your traces overlaid against a reference lap and the differences explained, corner by corner.

Written debrief

The key areas for focus and improvement, the three biggest time losses and a drill. The document below is one of these.

01 · Objectives

What we set out to do.

  • Braking timing and mid-corner speed
  • More pace without overheating the brakes
  • Race experience against similar cars
  • Race-start timing
  • Consistency

02 · The weekend

Session by session.

Qualy 1Sat behind a slower car too long and never found clear track. Sub-optimal.
Qualy 2Pole. Found space early and got it done. Starting tyre pressures were a touch low.
Race 1Started 4th, ran well, then faster Cup cars came through at bad spots on the last lap. P2 closed in at T15, the driver watched the mirrors, over-defended, and spun at T16.
Race 2Started 5th. Great opening laps to T13, then a long back-and-forth with one car. Clean, calm, well managed while the other driver was not.
EnduroSensible start, straight onto the leaders, up to 2nd before the stops and closing. A pit-timing error cost a shot at the win. P2.
StartsExcellent all weekend, timing spot on. A moment's hesitation after the initial run cost positions in Race 2.

03 · Corner by corner

Where the lap is.

Priority
T15

Not consistently getting the car left for braking, then turning in early. Apex speed is given away to stop the car oversteering on entry. Fix this and T16 fixes itself.

Priority
T16

Line is compromised by the T15 exit. Secondary to T15, not a separate problem.

Next
T17

Brake later. Simple.

Next
T1

Still carrying too little mid-corner speed.

Fine-tune
T3–T5

Improved after moving off the tighter line. The tight line throttle-limits T4 and ruins the placement into T5.

04 · The three things

What's costing the most time.

T15 entry

Car left, brake, turn in later, trust the front. The lap time and the T16 problem both live here.

Minimise the loss

Mirror-watching and over-defending cost more than a position does. Sometimes the guy behind gets by. That's fine. Losing the car trying to stop him is not.

Qualifying positioning

Fresh tyres, early lap, find the gap and get it done. Pole in Q2 proved it works; Q1 proved what happens when it doesn't.

The drill · before the next weekend
  • One sim session together before every test or race weekend, with video review of T15–T17 first.
  • Long runs for consistent pace, broken up with full-course-yellow restart drills.
  • Driver change practice. Target: 35 seconds.
  • Racecraft: protect the inside line early; on late moves, park the car on the apex so the overlap can't happen.

05 · Client's perspective

In the driver's words.

Driver · the good
  • Solid results overall
  • Team slowly coming together
  • Car was generally good
Driver · the not so good
  • Didn't feel my best over the weekend
  • Took myself out of the lead in Race 1
  • Engineer–driver communication not where it needs to be, a little confusion there

06 · Your lap

Send one lap. Get this back.

One lap of video from any camera, data if you have it. Corner-by-corner notes, the three things costing you time and a drill for your next session, within 48 hours. A full race weekend debrief like this one is $749 at the founding rate: test lap before qualifying, qualifying lap before the race, race review after.
